Hi all, The subject describes my overall question but I'll provide some details so you have a better idea of what I'm looking at.
Right now I have my computer upstairs in my room. If I got a Mac this year like I'm planning to, I'll still be living with my parents for another year and they use our home network to get the internet from my computer. Their PC is set up in the basement at the opposite end of the house so they're linked to my internet connection via network cable and d-link wifi router. My iPhone, laptop and fiancee's lap top all run the internet off of wifi thanks to the router as well. My question is, given all of these factors, can I create a network with a Mac replacing the main PC hooked up to the internet, which is what all other devices gain internet access from? Obviously I know my iPhone and Apple TV will connect but I just want to make sure that A) Any other non-Apple laptops/products can use the wifi and B) my parents computer will be able to share the internet connection via network cable if I'm using a Mac. The wifi signal just doesn't seem to be strong enough to reach the basement. One last question, I assume I'd need to buy a new router for the Mac to create a home network. If so, can someone recommend a router that works well with Macs? Thanks in advance! :) -Marc -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
