hmmmm. not sure how that happens. I have encountered this problem elsewhere and 
I typically either give up or change the user-agent string to fool  the website 
into working properly. btw, that change agent string feature is available on 
the development version of Safari (called webkit). 

one other thing you might try is to force the mouse cursor to be where the 
voiceover one is and then left click the mouse (without moving it of course). 
this tends to work around the problem that voiceover sometimes has.
