Your memory has served you well... That's exactly how it is done. It will
next ask you what you'd like to sync, mail, calendar & contacts. You check
or uncheck which or not you'd like synced. Then hit done. The syncing
process takes a few minutes.

From memory, you add a new account in Settings, Mail, calendar and contacts.
Choose exchange as the type rather than Google. Next put in your email /
username and password. Leave the domain blank. Press Next. It will say that
it is verifying and come back an ask for the server. Put in m.google.com
This should get you up and running. Sorry this is only from memory, hope it
right.
