I have had this happen sometimes when I have downloaded a lot of messages from email. I can get VoiceOver back by pressing the home key three times, waiting, and then doing this again. After a few times, VoiceOver comes back. This is annoying, but it doesn't happen enough for me to get too upset about it. I figure Apple will fix it eventually, and I'm having a lot of fun playing with it the evenings, and talking on it all day. I probably use my iPhone these days more than anything I've got.
