The other option is to use the item chooser.

If for example, you want the phone number for one of your contacts, navigate
to them in the contacts list.
Press control option I to bring up the item chooser.
  start typing phone.
before you have finished typing you will be left with a list of the phone
numbers such as home phone or mobile phone.
Press enter on the one you want, then navigate right once to the number.

This becomes very natural after a while and beats the pants off of
interacting with this that and the other thing, navigating through all the
fields to get what you want, then doing it all over again for the next VCard.

  Hope this helps,

    Hi,

When you are on the name of the contact you would like to view information
for, make sure your not interacting with the table, and VO left arrow once. You
will be on "Contact Information group". Interact with this. You will be on
the full name of the contact entry. VO right arrow once and you will here,
"Contact Information scroll area". Interact with this and you will see all the
information you've entered for the contact.

Ok, sorry, I think I must not have been spacific enough; my mistake. I
can open the address book, I just can't figure out for the life of me how to
access my contact info, short of the list of names, once I get into it, and
it's driving me nuts.

How am I supposed to go about doing that?

      Hi Jessica!

Well I've set a keyboard shortcut for mine!

So I only need to press right option key plus R [R for reply] because A
is set to adium!

But you can also launch it from the doc by either return or vo space or
even vo+shift+m and find open in that menu!

Mind you the address book has some issue's of its own!

And I'm running snowy kitty and do not know if it is any better in Lion!

      But I hth anyway!

I've just figured out how to add contacts to the addressbook on the
mac, so have added a bunch of them that I had on file, only to not be able to
open them later. I tried "command+O," only to have it give me an import
option, and can't find an option to open them in the menus.

How am I supposed to do this?
