Hi, I guess an alternative would be to make a bootable usb lion install, i think Mike arrigo did a podcast on htis and there might be others. I do suppose I can still use disk utility in recovery mode to erase my disk and i would then use the usb drive to reinstall the system thereby bypassing the need for an internet connection.
