I installed a little program that somehow enabled it to work. I don't recall what this program is called, nor do I know where it resides on my mac. If I did, I'd remove it and try reinstalling it. It was discussed on this list though. One was MacFuse, and the other was something I don't remember, but I think that was the one I used.
