Hi rachel. Does it prompt that you have not transfered purchased items from your IPod? I suggest you to try the following. 1. connect your device and open ITunes if it does not open automatically. 2. if you usually sync it, please do so. 3. before updating the software, go to the file menu, and select the option that says transfer purchases from your IPod. the name of your IPod will be spoken instead of "your IPod." 4. you might be prompted to enter your apple ID and password on your computer. Please do so. wait for a while, and you are good to go! note: you will be able to know the status of the transfer and the software update in the LCD section of iTunes, the area where you usually check the sync status, the details of the current song playing, etc. Hope this helps.
