Hi Chris,

thanks so much for the detail explanation.
After listening to three episodes of VoiceOverOn podcast on iWorks, I think using MS office on VMware Windows with Jaws seems to be the best way until more stable iWorks come out. I can see myself using Pages, but, it seems I need to figure out tons of workaround for Keynote and Numbers. It wil just slow down the work process a lot compared to using MS Office on Windows. In archive, I found people talking about Open Office. Is there any podcast on Open Office in Mac Environment?
Lastly, thanks for the article on oracle and Google calendar.

Vmware or VirtualBox would be your best choices as Parallels is not accessible. VMWare seems to be the favorite while VirtualBox has a command-line interface that lets you navigate any winky things that aren't going well in the GUI. For the least hassle it seems VMWare is the winner and is what you'll find the most discussion of on this list. I don't recall anyone recently asking about VirtualBox although I know some folks like it, especially the price.

I'm still not satisfied with office-type apps on the Mac since the 800-pound gorilla of MS Office refuses to hook into voiceover. Buried in the MS Office Mac VPAT

are these nice little caveats

Criteria:
(a) At least one mode of operation and information retrieval that does not require user vision shall be provided, or support for Assistive Technology used by people who are blind or visually impaired shall be provided.
*Unsupported*
Microsoft Office v. X for Mac does not support 3^rd party assistive screen readers.

(d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available to Assistive Technology. When an image represents a program element, the information conveyed by the image must also be available in text.

*Not supported*

Microsoft Office v. X for Mac does not meet these criteria.Microsoft Office v. X for Mac does not support assistive screen-readers.

(c) A well-defined on-screen indication of the current focus shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and focus changes.

OpenOffice or iWorks are pretty much the main alternatives but are imperfect in a number of ways, but generally not enough to warrant running a VM and Windows and Jaws/NVDA.

While I don't use it, many people seem to like the iCal app that comes with OSX. This article details getting iCal, Oracle Cal, Google Cal and your iPhone calendar all to sync. I'm sure a little googling would turn up more:

Hi all,

What's the best program to use with VoiceOver: Fusion, Virtual Box, or Parallel? I'd like to run Windows 7 with Jaws on a virtual machine. Also, what's the best way to work with excel, word, and Powerpoint files on Mac? I'd need to collaborate with other people who use MS Office on Mac. I heard MS Office is not accessible Mac. Should I use Pages, Numbers, and Keynote on OSX, or should I use MS Office on Windows Virtual Machine? I need to use more advanced features on Office like using headings, tables, style, and so on. Also, is there any accessible oracle calendar client on Mac? I'd like to stay in Mac as much as possible.
Thanks for all your help!
