Hi Angie, ITunes is marginally better on mac than on windows. IMHO though, the whole idea of ITunes is ridiculous. It's a benighted, proprietary piece of bloatware. Personaly I use VLC for my stuff. It's playlist based and non proprietay.
You can get vlc from www.videolan.org. You'll be happy you did. ITunes balks me at every turn, but really and truely, I can't think of a single task that ITunes dows that a third party program doesn't do much better.
