Hi, I don't think thats what he's trying to accomplish. To select items just 1 thing at a time he can just press shift up or down arrow. He is asking if you can select from a current position in the messages list all the way to the beginning or end with 1 keystroke. In snow leopard , you can do this by pressing option shift up or down arrow. I don't believe such a command exists in standard view in Mail on Lion.
