Hello!
Now I used bootcamp and installed windows7 on both the imac and the mac
mini. Contrary to when I installed xp on the imac, 7 was more
difficult. The first thing I had to ensure was that I had the bootcamp
partition formatted with windows, the oem dvd for windows7 could never
format it, I had to use the xp oem cd to get this done. Once this was
done I was able to pop the dvd for windows7 and boot directly from it
without ever using bootcamp so I held c down and when the dialog boxes
came I went through the installation as usual.
Now I have some observations and probably questions. On the mac mini
we had no problems whatsoever, just installed the bootcamp drivers and
all was fine. On the contrary the imac is a dark story. Once windows
files were expanded and when it restarted for the last time so we make
the setup with narrator the screen became totally dark, sighted help
was never useful at this time, moreover the apple wireless keyboard and
mouse never worked either contrary to what the case was with xp where I
never needed a chorded keyboard. More than that, I could never get
focus to tab around with narrator to make the initial setup, so I shut
down the system irregularly and restart, we could see the error message
that windows was shut down improperly and I think we had to press ok,
now when we reached the initial setup again no screen, no wireless
keyboard and no wireless mouse either, but luck was on my side I could
tab around and go through initial setup with a usb headset, wonder what
a sighted person could do since they never use narrator and no screen works.
As soon as I reached the desktop and even before installing bootcamp
drivers the apple wireless keyboard and mouse returned working and I
think the screen as well but am not sure as I was alone.
Having said that I want to know can one have a second internal drive in
the imac? I assume not and same for mac mini.
I read somewhere bootcamp supports a second internal hard drive, in
such case in which mac computers can one have two hard drives?
It would make life much easier to install windows using the unattended
mode on its own drive using all the drive for it and leaving the
macintosh hd intact for mac os, for example if not a standard hd an ssd
in the imac would be nice.
