Hi Joseph
There are a couple of ways to do this.  In some cases, such as a clearly 
defined article, you can use command-shift-r to bring up the reader.  If it's 
going to work, the article will start speaking immediately.   You can other 
wise use search for the first words in text, if you know them.  Or you can use 
command-vo-H to jump to headings, command-vo-m to go to same level headings.  
These have come in really handy since I learned them.  One other trick is to 
look for the word "search", and text often starts just below that area.
