Hello Ricardo,

I agree with you; I think the issue in question is that the application is 
still open with all windows closed.

Generally, when I accidentally close all windows in an application, I use the 
key-combo command+1 to open the primary Window.  In the mail application, for 
example, this would bring up the messages window.
