Eric:
It is windows xp pro, the winnt.sif is on a floppy disk not inside the
i386 folder on the cd, I am deleting the partition and everything is
going away with it, thanks.
Original message:
Hi George, what edition of xp are you doing this with?
No matter what, please make sure that all winnt.sif files are gone from
your install disk. You'll also have to delete the bootcamp partition
you created for the disk with the sif file and recreate it.

Hi Mark!
Both methods of setup are yeilding same result, the partition is
unbootable but it contains windows setup files. In boot.ini of windows
I get the normal lines but there is a line that says unidentified
operating system if that gives a clue. I don't have the current text of
bootcamp instructions but I have the ones I used two years ago. The
only new thing in this bootcamp is the question if I have the drivers
that support windows or if I want to download them. I tried to download
them on two machines but mac os x 106.7 kept saying that it cannot find
them so I chose the other radio button that says I have them on the cd
to continue. Yes I took out windows cd from the machine and when I did
that mac os x started normally. I tried holding option on startup and
arrowed to bootcamp drive then enter but the press any key to boot from
cd message came on the screen and no cd was in the machine, only power
off then on could get me back into snow leopard. I tried with her both
ntfs and leave alone although I know one shall not select leave alone
and let windows format the drive for me, I still have to try fat or
quick format, regards.

Hello Georges,
I have read your post several times and am not sure of the underlying problem.
Did you attempt to use some kind of unattended file installation system
or did you follow the exact steps listed in the Boot Camp instructions?
If you will recall, Boot Camp strongly recommends that one prints out
the instructions before beginning the procedure.
I do not mean to imply that your difficulty has anything to do with any
mistakes you may have made. I just want to be clear on how you proceeded.
The reason I am confused is because during a normal XP startup on an
average PC, it is very common to receive a message that says that one
can press any key to boot from the Windows CD.
Finally, as silly as it may sound, did you remember to remove the
Windows XP CD from the drive before booting the Mac?

Hi.
About thirty months ago I bought my first MacBook 13 inch white and
then snow leopard didn't exist neither Windows7 as well. I installed
then Windows XP and it was ok. I removed it after some time just when
snow leopard came and today and yesterday I was trying to install same
xp pro with no luck. BootCamp never mentions xp any longer and speaks
about windows7. The partition was made and the files were copied from
windows cd but the machine didn't boot from BootCamp partition and yes
I had a sighted person with me so nobody can blame my unattended
winnt.sif file, I did the normal setup procedure with her and was
shocked to hear the message press any key to boot from cd, what's the matter?
Have a nice weekend.
