Hi,
It's interesting to note that VizWiz actually is available even in the Swedish
app store, however i wonder whether the services offered by this app really
works here, since i wonder if there are any scandinavian speaking volunteers at
this time.

Sometimes i wonder about how apps are released in the different app stores.
Dragon dictation, for example isn't released ere in Sweden and other places in
Scandinavia at least, but other apps with only usa related info or functions,
such as Google voice is happily released here.

Thanks Ed for bringing this to our attention. Is the app itself slow, or just
the answers to your queries. The latter would be expected since it's bound to
always involve human intervention (presumably from a volunteer staff).
How long does it take on average to get an answer, or does that depend on the
question?
And the first person who posts: "what does this do" is getting banned<smile>.
Well I'm half serious; I fully expect at least two posts from people who would rather take up
everyone's time than spend a few seconds Googling or perusing the App store. For that reason
it might be a good idea to anticipate this and include a description when referencing an app
here.
Okay, to practice what I preach, here goes:
App: VizWiz
Category: medical
Seller: Jeffrey Bigham
Price in US currency: free of charge
URL: US app store is http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vizwiz/id439686043?mt=8
Description: VizWiz lets blind users recruit remote sighted workers to help
them with visual problems in nearly real-time. Users take a picture with their
phone, speak a question, and then receive multiple spoken answers.
Best regards,
Geoff

Hello listers, just wanted to send a message to all, and say that VizWiz is now
up in the US app store. I have played with it a little and my first impression
is it is a neat app, but a little slow. Very and simple though, which is nice.
