Yeah, liquid won't completely kill a laptop.  If the machine's not responding 
try finding someone to tell you what's on the screen and go from there.  I got 
my laptop really wet once.  Don't ask how, but I dried it out, did some 
research and decided I needed to do a clean install and format of the drive, I 
did, then ran migration assistant, and everything got back to normal.  There 
was some condensation in the screen that took a really long time to disappear, 
and my trackpad had to be worked quite a bit to act normal, but did after a 
while, and she's as good as new.
