Hello, I can only comment on this when using your iPad in landscape mode which is what I have chosen to do. In landscape mode, the screen is divided into two portions. THe left handside portion - a smaller part of the screen - displays the list of your messages in a particular account that you are currently look at, and the right handside of the screen displays previews of your messages. I have preview switched off in settings under mail/contacts/calendar because I'd rather not be confused by the various bits of messages that appear there. If preview is set to none, this portion of the screen will display your message when you double-tap it.
Going back to the left handside, if you slide your finger from the top of the iPad in landscape mode on this side, you will come across your status bar, then "search" box, and then you should hear the name of the mailbox/account to which the message list below refers. This button will also say "back" So againm, to repeat, you will hear the name of your account plus back. you tap this button twice to get to the inbox. Inbox will now display on the left handside names of the accounts you have so that you can slide your finger down and double-tap the one you want to check. Once you find it, double-tap it and it will display list of messages with the name of your account plus back at the top of the list. Hope this rather long message will help.
