The mac mini does need to be connected to a monitor, though the monitor does 
not need to be turned on. Most other macs, such as the laptops and imacs, 
already have a screen built in, so that's not an issue, I guess the only other 
computer that would require this is the mac pro, goodness, those are expensive.
