One other possibility, I recently saw that tidbits announced a disk utility package called l Drive Genius 3.1 for the Macintosh that costs $100. If you are concerned about the time to install and then migrate your files back on to the computer you could consider using this application. I believe it does several other functions also, but I am not sure.
