I'm sure because the motor stops and so does the reading/writing apparently. 
Furthermore nothing can be done to the OS you can't get out of programs, the 
whole thing has locked up, the only thing i possibly can do is to reboot.

No on both questions and i don't even know how you do to access "smart info" 
and if i could understand it should i access it. I would be greatful for info 
on what to look for and how to do that.
