I'd echo what Jim has said. There are quite a few apps that you can download that are accessible, but since there are so many apps floating around, it's probably best that you tell us what you are wanting to do then we can advise you.
Bare in mind that the steps for jailbreaking are going to vairy based on the device that you own.
