Marlaina, These are two routers that Apple offers. In fact there are really three. THe AirPort Express is very small, the size of the power brick for the MacBooks. It is a fairly feature rich router and includes features such as USB port for printing, an Ethernet port, and of course wireless connectivity. The Airport Extreme and Time Capsule are dual-radio routers that provides 2.4 and 5Ghz radios, allows a private and guest network configuration, USB port for external disks and printers, three Ethernet ports and one WAN port. THe time Capsule includes an internal hard drive that can be used for backing up your machines. This is a very basic description of these routers; however, you can look at the APple site for extensive details on each of these.
