Subject: Handy Tech Braille Support for Apple Portible Devices
Hello Folks,
with the release of Apple's iOS 4.21 the Handy Tech Braille displays are
supported via Bluetooth. Now you have access to your iPod Touch, iPad and
iPhone (3 GS and 4).
all models of Braille Wave and Braille Star 40 equipped with Bluetooth are
supported. With Easy Braille and Braillino you need to update the
Bluetooth chip if your product was manufactured prior to the following
serial numbers:
Braillinos from serial number 09308
Easy Brailles from serial number 09124.
Previously, the BraillIno and EasyBraille used a bluetooth chip that was
and still is well supported by several Windows screen readers and devices;
however, for reasons too complicated to go into here, Apple has elected
not to support this module at this time.
United States and Canadian Customers who have a BraillIno or EasyBraille
with the older module may now have these devices updated to the newer
Bluetooth module for $300. If you are not interested in using your
BraillIno or EasyBraille with one of the Apple portable devices, the
update is not necessary.
As always, please feel free to contact Handy Tech North America at:
651-636-5184
or by e-mail at:
i...@handytech.us
should you have any questions about the Bluetooth update or any of the
adaptive technology solutions we offer.
Sincerely,
Earle Harrison
President
Handy Tech North America
