Hi,
Was wanting to start a topic of PT Accessibility, but since we're already
talking about it, I actually had some questions about it.
How much can you do with protools? Can you do automation, audio, midi,
different plugins, things like that? Also, I'm doing a career center program
for audio production, and they're using PT8. I've been trying to get them to
use 8.1, but my teacher doesn't seem to want to go through the process of
updating. I feel that is unfair to me, because it feels like all I'm there
for is to give people musical substance for their projects if that makes any
sense... I play all the music, while they're doing everything in Protools.
It's really aggravating and I'm considering dropping the course... I don't
want to take it out on my teacher, he's tried working with me to make sure I
get some of the substance, but it's just really pissing me off that all I
can do is pretty much sit their when the music's done, and wait for them to
edit. Then if they do something wrong, then I want to fix it but can't...
lol.
OK, I'm done ranting, any insights you all can give would be great!!!

Hi Slau. that is a shame, but, I'm not surprised.

Along those same lines, I've investigated both reaper and studio 1 from
Presonus and didn't have any luck with either.

Also, cuebase and digital performer aren't accessible, but that is old news
at this point.

It's a shame.

Cameron.

Subject: accessibility of Adobe Audition

As some of you might already know, Adobe recently released its public beta
for Audition for Mac, a relatively popular digital audio workstation
originally for Windows. It's most often used for basic multitrack recording,
editing and audio restoration. Most people working in the post-production
world who are on Windows use this program and, by all accounts, it's quite a
mature program.

Well, it's no surprise, having come from Adobe, that the program is not at
all accessible. Now, with Pro Tools being quite accessible, I have no
interest in Audition but, of course, it's nice to have options and, frankly,
all programs should be accessible. Anyway, my personal attention has always
been and will continue to be focused on Pro Tools. If there's anyone on the
list who would like to contact Adobe regarding the accessibility of
Audition, I think it would be a good idea, if only to remind them of
accessibility as a serious consideration. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to
mention how Pro Tools and Logic have come along. Perhaps it won't amount to
anything in the end, I don't know, but perhaps it might lead to an
alternative. Again, having options is good.

Slau
