It sort of gives the audio a more spacial effect, enhances the reverb if there is any, and yes, it works on CD quality tracks. But in order to use it fully, you got to move the slider all the way to 100% Then, turn it off and on and see the difference. I keep mine on all the time at 100% I like it that way.
