I rarely use a CD drive, other than when at home. So yes, if I needed to use one, it would have to be an external. Also, if you get an 11 inch which is what I have, you will need a card reader; the 13 inchers have that built in but weight almost a pound more. This old blind lady wants lightweight in her dottage, smile!
