Hi Kimberly, To use Handbrake:
Place the DVD in your drive. 2. DVD Player will most likely automatically open, just wait until it does then press cmd-q to Quit DVD Player. 3. Open the Handbrake app. It usually brings you to an Open dialog upon startup. 4. Press cmd-shift-c to bring up a list of devices attached to your computer. 5. Interact with the File Table and select the DVD. Press return. 6. Wait while Handbrake reads the info on the DVD. 7. I have Handbrake set to convert to Apple Universal which is within the Table of the Drawer. 8. I also have Handbrake set to save my files to the Desktop. You can set this by pressing the Browse button right after the Destination area of the Handbrake window. Once you've pressed Browse, just press cmd-shift-d to bring focus to the Desktop then Press return. 9. All you need to do is press cmd-s to Start the process after that. Things to note: • Next time you use Handrake, all you'll need to do is select the movie you wish to convert then once the Handbrake window is active, just press cmd-s to start the conversion process. • This takes quite a while with a commercial DVD, well over an hour usually. • Once the file has been converted, you'll need to bring it into iTunes in order to be transferred over to the iPad. • Just select the newly converted file on your Desktop, then press cmd-o to Open it. iTunes should open automatically and begin the import process. You can Interact with the LCD section of iTunes to determine when the import has completed. You can then go into the Movies portion of your Library and then locate the movie in your Movies Table. You can even rename and set other tag info by selecting the movie, then pressing cmd-i to bring up its Info. Select the Info tab and fix the name and such so it is better labeled. • Once all that is done the transfer can be done the next time you sync your iPad. • Some DVDs mess up the order of the scenes as a method of copy protection. If this does happen, you'll need sighted assistance to determine the proper title to actually convert. I or someone else can give instructions for that if you encounter this issue. HTH. Later... 2.
