Hey Neil, congradulations on switching to the mac, glad it's working for you. On my macbook, I have defined 2 custom gestures for moving to the beginning and end of a list. Actually it works for going to the beginning or end of just about everything. The gestures I set up are option flick up on the trackpad, and option flick down on the track pad.
