I would have to dissagree.

I keep Airport on all the time, and, I never have any issues.  When I connect 
to a wired network, that connection takes over.  when I browse wirelessly via 
my AT&T U-verse connection, that takes over right away when I disconnect the 
CAT 5 cable from my ethernet port.  I always make sure, though, to stay loged 
out of my  wireless internet connection while I'm connected via CAT 5 cable.

When I do log in to my wireless, I always need to make sure to have the 
"remember this network" unchecked.  That way, just in case my Mac is stolen, 
they thief can't get access to my internet connection.
