I have not seen this behavior before.  A couple of questions:

1.  Are you still receiving mail in the Maiul application?
2. When setting up outgoing (SMTP) mail you need to indicate a
password for GMAIL, is this still configured? I believe you need to
click on the advanced tab in the account setup to configure SMTP
outgoing mail service.

Also: Opening the connection doctor window under the windows tab might
tell you what is going on.  If you don't understand the results feel
free to send them to
