Sure. start the track or navigate with right and left arrows close to your 
selection. then start playing with  space, hit p to place a marker at your 
start and p to place an end marker. Make sure that play selection under prefs 
is selected under general. Now move to your end marker or your start marker and 
to extend to your end marker hit cmd right arrow or if you are at your end 
marker cmd left arrow.
