Hi Geoff,

Getting your first Mac is very exciting. I remember wanting to know all I could 
about what to do when my macbook arrived.  It's true, voiceover may start 
automatically but if it doesn't, you will probably have to press  the fn key 
along with command f5. The fn is the bottom left corner key on your macbook 
keyboard. Yu will learn quickly once you begin to  explore the features of 
voiceover. And of course we are all here to help if you get stuck.
