Yes, I realize NAS boxes come in larger configurations. what I meant to say was that mine in particular has two drives in it. We use NAS at my station with up to 15 drives in it.
As for the formatting information, I will look into that. the manual does have information on using the NAS as an iTunes server, so I would imagine that it would be Time Machine compatible.
