Hello again everyone. I'm sorry, but I forgot to mention a couple of things in my last message. Some text editors will let you edit hidden files and the contents of hidden directories without having to resort to a shell command. One such is Smultron, which is a free text and source code editor. It doesn't seem to be in active development any longer, but it will allow the editing of hidden files. Its web site is http://smultron.sourceforge.net/ Another alternative is SubEthaEdit, although that one costs about $30 US, I think. In case anyone is interested, its web site is http://www.codingmonkeys.de/subethaedit/ However, the last time I used it, it seemed to cause some kind of conflict with iCal which prevented me from viewing or updating my appointments. Hope this helps, David
