Hi Sarah, You are correct. In fact, the can be upside down, right side up, 90 degrees rotated and very seriously skewed and we will resolve the issue.
In fact, for all intents and purposes, the Digit-Eyes package is insensitive to orientation of the code -- there is almost no amount of skew that the system cannot resolve. The approach of holding the phone stable and moving the product in front of it (as described for the idMate below) also works well on Digit-Eyes and at least when people are starting out, we recommend trying this. The autofocus camera on the iPhone 3Gs tends to do better in getting a capture when the item is moving away from it. So we recommend starting by holding (say) the bottom of the box close to the camera and then moving it away from the camera until you get the beep that indicates that a capture has been made.
