It may have something to do with the size of the page. When I had safari 5
I noticed voiceover would do that in ichat if the chat got big enough. I
used the cd htat came with my mac to do a reinstall of the os and it took it
back to safari 4. I was surprised it didn't totally whipe the machine, but
all my mail and ichat accounts and things were still there. Something to
try for those who like me want to downgrade. as a new mac user this is very
disappointing. Has this happened with safari before? I sent an email to
accessibility about the ichat thing and got no response. Do you think apple
is blowing us off?

Subject: Re: Audible.com site with safari 5
I have not tried either s5 or Audible, but a couple things to try:
1. Turn off cursor tracking. Some sites do a lot of javascript when the
mouse moves over a specific point, or the insertion point changes. This
can wreck havoc when all three track each other. Facebook is on my bad
behavior list because of this.
2. I believe I heard something about disabling javascript could prevent
the crashing. (which would make sense if the statement above holds.)
Note: if you disable cursor tracking, then you need to ensure that you
move cursors where you want them to be.
Best regards,
Jon

Yes,
I'm getting the same behavior. Voiceover resets itself when you try to
interact with the html content. Very, very, annoying
