Hi Linda, What you are probably referring to is the playback wen clicking an MP3 link or other audio link. That's not iTunes that opens up. You can have it open with iTunes, however that is never the default.
There might be some way to fast forward and rewind here, I'm sure there is. But the way Webkit and Safari handle it are two different ways. Personally, I like the way Webkit handles it better.
