Might also give Audio Recorder a try. It's been so long since I first set it up but I think the initial launch throws up the usual I agree with a bunch of 'don't sue me' legalese. At the end are two un-announced buttons for I agree or not. You'll want to hit tab once and then space to agree. After that it won't ask you again. Nice simple UI records unlimited length directly to a file on your hard drive using whatever audio inputs your system has. I trust it enough to record live events with it, just taking a line-out from the house sound system into my laptop.
