I think that depends on your perspective.  The value of any quality or object 
is always, at least to some extent, subjective, and is partially defined by the 
perceptions of the user/consumer—think VHS and Betamax from back in the 80s.  
Betamax was widely considered to be superior, but VHS ended up dominating the 
market.  In this case, if I were a guy—and hence larger—if I had larger hands, 
or if I didn’t have arthritis in both thumbs, the value I place on having a 
lighter, thinner phone would probably be very different.  I’m not saying that 
I’m convinced that it's worth it, just that it might be more worth it to me 
than it is to you.  I loved the 12 mini, but as we know, I was in the minority. 
 Hence there was no 13, 14, or 16 mini.  I also recognize that the Pro lineup 
is, by objective standards, superior both to the mini and the Air.  Still I had 
a more comfortable experience with the mini.  Whether that will also be true of 
the Air remains to be seen.
