Hi all,

I’m a little confused about what can and can’t be done when logging in or
unlocking my Mac. Am I right in assuming that things don’t work quite the same
as they do with iOS. As you know, on devices that use touch ID, simply pressing
the power button and keeping your finger on it with touch ID enabled unlocks
your device and gets you to the home screen. On Mac OS, it sounds to me like
this concept does, in fact, work if you’ve already logged in, put your Mac to
sleep, then want to wake it up. On the other hand, if you completely shut down,
like at end of day, and then try to log back in next morning, one of the
sentences in the section where they talk about logging in using touch ID, it
reads:

Log in from the login window: Click your name in the login window, then place
your finger on Touch ID.

I still am required to enter a password. Is there a way I can not be required
to enter a password by clicking on my user name? I may be missing something
here, or perhaps what I’m looking to do might not be possible , that’s why I’m
asking.

Still enjoying getting back into the Mac OS world,
Pete De Vasto
