I echo that suggestion. While I have never used a QWERTY model for a
braille display, I find the Perkins keyboard simpler to use. Oh yes, I
have the 40 cell Brailliant.

My experience of Humanware displays with keyboards is that Linux is pretty much
the only environment where it works well, mostly because BRLTTY has lots of
mode-switching keystrokes. But ever since the BrailleNote my view is just get
the Braille input version because that will just have fewer issues. Perhaps you
could get them to exchange your Mantis for a Brailliant? I agree that the cells
are nice; I like their thumb buttons too.
Oh, and the stupid way the macOS Braille drivers get messed up isn't unique to
Mantis: my Focus 40 Blue (5th gen) constantly needs to be
disconnected/reconnected/restarted just to get macOS not only to connect but
actually drive it. Extremely irritating.
