This issue has been reported by others using Sequoia. To resolve this issue try the following:
1. Go to VoiceOver Utility > Verbosity, and select the Text tab. 2. Navigate to the item labeled "When text attributes change “, and select Do Nothing from the pop up menu. 3. next, navigate to the item “Read numbers as”, and select Words from the pop up menu.
