Not sure what could be the issue. I suggest keeping both your Mac and iPhone online at all times. Also, make sure both devices are on current versions of their respective OS. You say you are using Voice Dream Writer on your iPhone, and I assume Text Edit on your Mac. Neither should be a problem. You may want to try using Drafts to edit files. It has a version for both Mac and iOS, and is designed for collaboration between platforms. Drafts may be used for free, but the full version cost only $25 USD per year.
