Your keyboard has a power switch.
Try turning the power off for a few seconds, and then back on again.
That should wake it up.

I have a 2020 M1 Mac mini that I often don’t use for a few hours or even a
couple days. I usually don’t remember to shut it down after use. When I get
back to it after a long absence, it won’t respond to any keyboard commands, and
I am less than skilled with my portable touch pad. I end up having to press
the button at the back to get VO to say anything at all, usually the help tag
for the item I was on when I left. I end up pressing the button and holding it
to get to the menu to shut it down, but if I want to go to restart, I have to
turn on my touch pad and flick to that. The keyboard is a nice, new Apple
Magic Keyboard complete with the Touch ID, which is currently attached with the
USB port, though I know it also works on the bluetooth. I have not checked
recently to see if this happens with Bluetooth, but I think it does.

Why is this Mac unwilling to communicate with its own keyboard? Can anybody
help me? Thanks.
