I'm not aware of any option to define new keyboard shortcuts - perhaps AppleScript would help, but I haven't investigated it. You may find that the Item Chooser menu helps in navigating to desired controls quickly, as you can partially type the name of what you're looking for to move to it directly. I hope this helps. I know it isn't the perfect solution.
