Hi Eileen,
Yes you should be able to have more than one Braille display in your list that you can switch back and fourth to. I’ve got three on my phone, running iOS 16. As for Brailling lowercase, go to Voiceover Settings > Braille, and look at Braille Input. I’ll bet it’ll say 6 dot. You can changis to 8-dot and you should then be able to type using dot 7 for uppercase. You might also want to look at Braille output to make sure that, too, is set to 8 dot. I seem to remember by default it’s set to 6. Hope this helps, Pete De Vasto From: etscrivani via MacVisionaries <macvisionaries@googlegroups.com> Sent: Saturday, September 23, 2023 10:32 AM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Pairing/Connecting Braille Display to Mac Book Air. Hi, Thanks, I was able to connect. Only issue was that I had to remove a different braille display that had been paired that I no longer use in order to allow the Brailliant 40 to connect via Bluetooth. Is it possible to have more than one braille display listed as a Bluetooth device? One other issue is when I tried typing in on the display, trying to type an upper case letter it would not take. I had to type everything in lower case. Thanks again. Hi, all you need to do is go into utilities and go to voiceover utilities underneath that you will find options go down to braille go to the fourth tab which is displays and you can start the pairing process there. Please follow whatever your displays manual says it’s a procedure for setting up Bluetooth braille. I hope this helps. I have had to do this myself personally. I went from an old Intel MacBook Pro, to a new M2 MacBook Pro. The only issues I am having unfortunately is I can’t get my braille display to play along when using a virtual windows machine. But I have had good comments about Mac dictation. Because I have a written expression disorder on top of being deaf blind. So I rely on braille heavily. Be well everyone. By the way, I will need to update the signature file. I’m going to write the best email address List to reach me at. But don’t send anything to the email listed in the signature block. I will be working on updating that today. My new persnale email address is maur...@maurice-amines.com <mailto:maur...@maurice-amines.com> . My Nfb Deafbl Division email address is presidentdeafbl...@maurice-amines.com <mailto:presidentdeafbl...@maurice-amines.com> . Have a great Saturday everyone. Sent from my iPhone. Now, I want to connect it to a Mac Book Air running most recent version of OS. I cannot remember where I need to go to get this pairing done. I looked under VO utilities and was unable to locate Braille settings/displays. I also tried system preferences under Bluetooth but I was not seeing anything that sounded like the right setting choices. Also, does it matter that the Brailliant Bi X 40 is currently set to use with my Mac Book Pro? That is, it is not running at the same time I’m trying to pair it with the Air, but it is setup and works correctly with the Pro when I want to use it there. I hope that makes sense. Any pointers to get me in the correct place are appreciated. Eileen -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
