Exactly the behaviour I encountered.  Thanks for testing it Nick I thought I
was doing something daft.  It's a very useful UI element to have on a page
(sometimes and carefully used <smile>)

This is very interesting.

I created my own multi-select listbox, and got some funny results.

I opened it in Safari, and located it on my page. VoiceOver proceeded to
read all the options in the box without pausing, and did not seem to
register it as a listbox at all, but rather as a text element. I then hit
down arrow, and it would say the item name, then "clickable selected".

They seem to work, but you don't know when they are listboxes or not. Also,
yes, you can select more than one by using regular selection keys.
