I also noticed this a while ago and, like you, it did come back for a while. I wrote an angry email to Facebook about it just before it came back. I thought that had some impact, but perhaps it didn’t ;)
I originally thought it was just me, but it seems like this is more widespread and may be rolled out across the whole user base at some point. I’ve switched over to just using the Facebook mobile app on my iPhone which seems accessible.
