Dear List,
You know that saying, If its not broken, Don’t fix it.
Well, I didn’t listen. I was running Big Sur on a external SSD, while Monterey
was installed on the internal spindle drive.
So today I decided to upgrade the SSD from Big Sur to Monterey.
The upgrade seemed to go OK, So since the SSD drive was named Big Sur, I
renamed it to Monterey SSD, and I also renamed the data drive to Monterey
SSD-Data.
Guess what! Yes, the Mac will not boot the SSD. I have to remove it in order to
boot into recovery, but soon as I plug it in, Recovery disk utility stops
responding.
So again I unplugged it and restarted the Mac booting with the internal
spindle drive running Monterey, But finder stops responding when I plug in the
SSD.
So if I can’t rename or format the SSD, What do I do?
Please give me some advice!
Thanks,
Rob
